Makigumo is dedicated to the study and enjoyment of anime, manga, and East Asian cinema. The primary section of the site contains a review archive, written and maintained by me as a way to improve my own critical writing skills. Although anime is primarily an entertainment medium, it’s important to also be able to appreciate it from a more critical perspective. The construction and artistry of anime are both important to me, yet these areas are not usually covered in-depth by most viewers. By paying particular attention to these subjects, my hope is to help facilitate the understanding and awareness of the culture around anime.
